'My Duty was to Take Pictures' is based on the story of Jerzy Tomaszewski, who during the Nazi occupation of Poland (1939-1945) used photography as a form of resistance, to help smuggle pictures to the allied countries as evidence and to photograph the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944. In the 1970s his photographs, previously considered lost, were returned to him and became vital evidence of the Uprising: www.warsawuprising.com/paper/guardian.htm
